Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) appears in our formula at 5.2mg (104% DV). While it receives less attention than biotin, its contribution to hair health through coenzyme A production is significant.
Pantothenic acid is converted to coenzyme A (CoA) in the body. CoA is involved in over 100 metabolic reactions including fatty acid synthesis, energy production and steroid hormone manufacturing — all relevant to hair follicle function.
Fatty acid metabolism supported by CoA is essential for sebum production, which keeps the scalp moisturized and creates the environment hair follicles need to function. A dry, irritated scalp can impair hair growth independent of other nutritional factors.
Dexpanthenol (a derivative) is widely used in topical hair products. Oral pantothenic acid as calcium pantothenate provides systemic availability, supporting not just the scalp but hair follicle metabolism from within.
Pantothenic acid deficiency is rare in well-nourished populations because B5 is widely distributed in foods. Our 104% DV ensures adequate supply without megadosing. It is part of our full B-complex approach, not a standalone hair solution.
